From the recently released, self-produced EP ‘Gold Collection,’ STEPHEN HERO releases a video for the second single ‘Money Kid.’ The video features fun, old school animation, some archival footage of the city of Saint John, and some great candid footage of performances, rehearsals and a pretty clean haircut care of a small Saint John barbershop.
The song is a joyful, summery sample flip with a steady bass groove and some relaxed but vivid lyrical work from HERO, who sums the concept up like this: “I wanted to explore that struggle between wanting so bad to escape poverty and to celebrate that success, while also trying to stay true to that anti-capitalist radical shit that I care so deeply about. At the end of the day, I’m always gonna be the same working class dude, but god it would be nice to not be stressed about money for five fucking minutes.”
