Evolving from a short doo-wop intro into an off-kilter soulful instrumental, The Dirty Sample’s “Linger” was a bit of a fluke. During a beat-making session, the reclusive producer from Calgary, AB, put on a record, stepped away to grab his coffee, and a perfect loop of a skip happened. Rumour has it he lingered. And then he dropped a meaty bunch of drums behind it. “It was an eerie moment” is how The Dirty Sample describes this ghost skip, a possibly supernatural phenomenon that resulted in a great first single for his upcoming instrumental album, Beats to Murder Rappers To, The Dirty Sample’s creepy new instrumental album dropping Halloween weekend.
